Within the process of Bolivian urbanization the cities of Santa Cruz, La Paz, El Alto and Cochabamba highlight,  for the rapid expansion of urban sprawl, unplanned, with alarming levels of inequality and poverty.

In this study we identify the strategies resorted by the impoverished areas, in response to a range of multivariate dissatisfaction because of the absence of public policy. We will analyze the actions that people invented to find ingenious exits in order to gain access to the most basic services. In many cases has taken over the modalities of organization of their original communities and/or created in the city models of self-management. We will contextualize the conditions under which families live and quantify the levels of poverty, inequality and social exclusion in which they find themselves. We will identify organizational patterns used by the people, to deal with adverse situations and that constitutes an interesting challenge to influence public policy and to assess the role of social movements in the slums of cities.

With the aim of demonstrating the multidimensional face of poverty, vulnerability, deprivation and social inequality, we will apply multivariate techniques such as those of generalized canonical correlation model (GCCA).

Moreover we will simultaneously analyze the administrative, eco-financial interactions and techniques of alternative systems in order to access to water using the same multivariate tool.

The results of both applications, have helped to pinpoint the problem in the area and to localize the areas of greatest concentration of poverty and to identify vulnerable groups.
