The proposed course aims at providing clear understanding about disaster risk reduction, performance of buildings during dynamic of natural forces like earthquake, landslide, floods, high wind, fire etc., retrofitting techniques, reconstruction and rehabilitation process and practices through various global and regional case studies, Socio-cultural, economic aspects of rehabilitation, cross cutting issues for safe and sustainable development.

The 4 days course comprises of conceptual understanding disaster risk reduction, dynamics of natural forces to the built infrastructure, concept of recovery, reconstruction and rehabilitation and functional requirements for fast track post disaster sustainable development. The workshop will be designed as blend of theoretical understanding of safe construction, group work and discussion, case studies and demonstration.

The course has been broadly categorized into four units. These are concept of Disaster risk reduction, performance of building in disasters, disaster reconstruction process, Cross cutting issues of safe construction.

Unit 1 : Disaster Risk Reduction Concept

Unit 2: Performance of Building in Disasters 

Unit 3: Reconstruction, Recovery and Rehabilitation

Unit 4: Cross Cutting Issues for Safer Development
